DESCRIPTION/NOTES
“Looking into the Deep” is part of the Topographies Series and it might suggest the way light refracts as it passes through water or mist? This art work is also a contemporary approach to mosaic made from weathered pieces of wood that carries the story of the wind, sun and frost. As with all the works in the Topography Series, this is an exploration of human perception, and our relationship with the physical world. Pattern recognition is the cognitive process that we humans perform so well. Many times this ability results in great creative and innovative understanding, but sometimes we are seeing what is not there. “Looking into the Deep” is about the tension between seeing what is really there and what our minds let us see.
