Shades explores the space between light and darkness, where what we see is never quite the whole story. Light reveals some things while leaving others hidden, creating a sense of mystery and inviting us to look more closely.
I am interested in the ways light changes our perception of the physical world. It can transform familiar materials, reveal unexpected textures, and make a surface feel almost like a landscape. The shadows become part of the work as well, shifting with the light and changing what we see.
There is a sense of discovery in this relationship between light, material, and shadow. Shades invites curiosity about what might be just beyond what we can see.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth or feather duster. Avoid direct sunlight and high-humidity environments, which can cause wood to expand, contract, or fade over time. If you have questions about caring for your specific piece, feel free to reach out.
Most pieces are made to order, with a lead time of 6-8 weeks (up to 3 months for larger or more complex work). If you need a piece by a specific date, please get in touch before ordering so we can confirm timing.
Flatter wall pieces ship via UPS. Larger sculptural and freight-shipped pieces are quoted individually, contact us for a shipping quote.
Once your piece ships, you'll receive a tracking notification by email.

Care and the handmade promise
Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid direct sunlight and high humidity, which can affect the wood over time. Each piece is finished with a protective topcoat, so no oiling, waxing, or additional treatment is needed — simply keep it clean and out of harsh conditions to preserve its natural matte finish.
Because each piece is handmade, small differences in grain, tone, and surface are natural. The variation is the signature of something made by a person, not a machine.
Each order is wrapped by hand and packed to travel safely. Made-to-order pieces typically take 6 to 8 weeks to complete, with larger or more complex pieces taking up to 3 months. You'll receive tracking as soon as it leaves the studio.
All sales on made-to-order and custom pieces are final. If your piece arrives damaged, please contact us with photos within 10 days of delivery, and we'll arrange a repair, replacement, or refund.
