Beautiful and Broken

Beautiful and Broken is a letter to my inner child, to the boy who came into the world open, curious, and unguarded, before he learned to build walls to survive.

I know now that you wanted the adults around you to hold those parts of you as sacred, and that they didn't always do that. You felt shame for your emotional sensitivity, so you built a shell, armor that kept judgment out, but also kept pieces of your true self in. It was a sacrifice you made to feel safe in a world that didn't always make room for softness in boys.

Now, as a man, I understand what that shell cost me. Human connection isn't optional,  it's a need. And I know that restricting my authentic self only perpetuates the very story I want to break: that men must subdue their inner world to survive the outer one.

This piece is an invitation to unlearn that story, to reclaim the beauty and magic I was born with, and to create something whole from the broken pieces.

Please allow up to 3 months for completion. This piece is an original, hand-carved work based on a design I've created before, while the composition is consistent, each piece is individually made and may vary slightly in color, grain, and detail.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth or feather duster. Avoid direct sunlight and high-humidity environments, which can cause wood to expand, contract, or fade over time. If you have questions about caring for your specific piece, feel free to reach out.

Most pieces are made to order, with a lead time of 6-8 weeks (up to 3 months for larger or more complex work). If you need a piece by a specific date, please get in touch before ordering so we can confirm timing.

Flatter wall pieces ship via UPS. Larger sculptural and freight-shipped pieces are quoted individually, contact us for a shipping quote.
