Mind Map

Mind Map is a wall relief sculpture created from weathered wood and walnut bark using a mosaic technique I developed to bring together fragments of the natural world. The irregular pieces form a textured, topographic surface that suggests a landscape viewed from above, with ridges, valleys, pathways, and shifting terrain.

I am drawn to the individual character of these fragments. Each piece of bark carries its own history, shaped by growth, weather, time, and the conditions of the place where it lived. When brought together, these individual fragments become part of something larger.

The work draws a connection between the physical landscape and the landscape of the mind. Just as a map organizes a place through paths, boundaries, and relationships, our minds continually assemble fragments of experience into patterns and connections. Mind Map becomes an exploration of how individual moments, memories, and impressions come together to form a larger understanding of the world around us.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth or feather duster. Avoid direct sunlight and high-humidity environments, which can cause wood to expand, contract, or fade over time. If you have questions about caring for your specific piece, feel free to reach out.

Most pieces are made to order, with a lead time of 6-8 weeks (up to 3 months for larger or more complex work). If you need a piece by a specific date, please get in touch before ordering so we can confirm timing.

Flatter wall pieces ship via UPS. Larger sculptural and freight-shipped pieces are quoted individually, contact us for a shipping quote.
