Parallel Pathways

A walnut burl doesn't grow straight. It knots and swells around old injury, a response to stress that becomes, over years, the most beautiful part of the tree. I carved this piece's central figure from one, and left the carved lines running parallel through it: not one path, but many, moving alongside each other toward the same light.

That felt true to how change actually happens not a single clean line from where we started to where we're going, but parallel tracks, some visible, some buried, all shaped by what they had to grow around.

This piece is an original, hand-carved work based on a design I've created before. While the composition is consistent, each piece is individually made and may vary slightly in color, grain, and detail.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth or feather duster. Avoid direct sunlight and high-humidity environments, which can cause wood to expand, contract, or fade over time. If you have questions about caring for your specific piece, feel free to reach out.

Most pieces are made to order, with a lead time of 6-8 weeks (up to 3 months for larger or more complex work). If you need a piece by a specific date, please get in touch before ordering so we can confirm timing.

Flatter wall pieces ship via UPS. Larger sculptural and freight-shipped pieces are quoted individually, contact us for a shipping quote.
